Tim Blake Obituary

On November 7th, 2019, Timothy James Blake passed from this life to be with Our Lord at the age of 41. He was a loving and cherished son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, Godson and Godfather; not to mention friend to many. He fought a long and courageous battle with substance abuse but refused to let it define him.

Tim was a life-long resident of Catonsville, graduating from CHS a proud member of the Class of ‘96. He was a gifted athlete who excelled in all sports, especially baseball and basketball. He had an exuberance for life and a playful, childlike personality. His love for amusement parks, Halloween, University of Maryland athletics and all things Orioles, Ravens and Ocean City were unequaled. Time spent hanging out with his cousins and nephew was especially prized.

He was, at times, a voracious reader with a keen interest in American history, politics and current events. Tim was well-versed in almost any topic, was an extremely quick learner and possessed a remarkable depth and breadth of general knowledge. His command of sports stats, events and trivia, complete with dates, places and times, rivaled The Elias Sports Bureau.

Tim possessed dark-featured good looks, charisma, self-confidence and a warm and disarming smile. That, coupled with an unassuming sense of humor, quick wit and a genuine love for people, made him very well-liked by his peers and colleagues. He was able to open doors often closed to those with lesser people and communication skills. Tim also never forgot his Catholic teachings of love of God and neighbor.

Ultimately, though, all of these incredible traits and attributes, along with the love and support of his family and friends, were just not enough to break the bonds of addiction. They are, however, what animates his generous spirit even into death. Tim donated his heart, liver and kidneys to four grateful transplant recipients. In the end, he went out the true champion he was by giving the gift of life; forever enhancing the lives of so many people in the process. Some things just never change.

Tim leaves behind his loving parents, Jim and Carmen Blake, 2 sisters, Chrissy Blake (Ryland Clegg) and Kelly Hartge (Greg), 2 grandparents, Rosemarie Blake and Jesus Rivera, 4 uncles, Jim Rivera (Linda), Carlos Rivera (Connie), Bob Blake (Angie) and Tom Blake (Beverly), 3 aunts, Jenny Boles (Brad), Jane Pantos (Michael) and Lisa Corbitt (Joe), a nephew, Nathan Hartge and Baby Hartge to-be, 12 cousins, Kimberly Eberhardt, B.J. Trump (Heather), Melissa Conner (Doug), Nick Rivera, Erik Blake, Josh Trump, Ryan Blake, Jen Blake, Lauren Blake, Will Corbitt, Caroline Corbitt and Julia Blake,

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Richard Blake and Aurelia Rivera and niece Hope Anne Hartge.

A viewing will be held at the Candle Light Funeral Home on Thursday, November 14th, 2019 from 4-7 pm. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Paul Church in Ellicott City on Friday, November 15th, 2019 at 11:30am.

For those desiring donations may be made in Tim’s name to the Living Legacy Foundation (www.thellf.org/how-to-help/make-a-contribution/).
