Thomas Evans, Jr. Obituary

Thomas Nicholls Evans, Jr. passed away peacefully on May 17, 2022 at the age of 89. He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife, Patricia (nee Bennett); his son, Thomas Nicholls Evans, III; daughter, Susan Evans Ritter (Chris); and grandsons, Thomas Nicholls Evans, IV and Evan Ritter.

Born in Kingston, PA to Thomas Nicholls Evans and Elizabeth (nee Roberts) he enjoyed a long and active life. During his youth Tom was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. His troop had regular reunions for many years and he always looked forward to returning to Pennsylvania to attend them. At the beginning of his Senior year of High School he and his parents moved from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Catonsville, Maryland. He attended Catonsville Sr High School and graduated in 1951. He continued his education at the University of Maryland where he received both his Bachelors and Law degrees. Tom then served in the Army JAG Corp and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. After being honorably discharged he returned to Maryland and established his law practice.

Tom was an avid golfer. His love of the game began when he was a teenager and would spend his summers caddying at the Eagles Mere Golf Club. He was an active member of Rolling Road Golf Club for over 50 years. Tom really enjoyed travel. Over his lifetime he was able to visit all but three states, take several trips to different parts of Canada and see several countries in Europe. One of his most memorable trips was going to Normandy Beach for the 50th anniversary commemoration of D-Day. He was very active in the Masons and Shriners and was honored to serve as Potentate of Boumi Temple during its 100th year anniversary in 1984.

In lieu of flowers family has requested that donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. 5050 King Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21237.
