Salvatore Cascio, III "Sam" Obituary

Salvatore “Sam” John Cascio III of Baltimore passed away surrounded by family on the morning of October 13, 2023 at the age of 98. Sam was born on September 11, 1925 and grew up in the Ridgley’s Delight neighborhood of Baltimore City, the current location of third base at Camden Yards. He proudly served the country during World War II as a bombardier in the Army Air Corps. His wealth was always defined by the love of family. He provided countless hours of volunteer service to St. Paul's Church and the Lighthouse Assisted living facility. His avocation of fine carpentry can be seen in the homes of all his children, the homes of other family and friends, and St. Paul's Catholic Church in Old Ellicott City.

He was a loving father to his five children, Patricia Bonner (Thomas Bonner), Salvatore Cascio (Jodi Cascio), Sharon Michels (the late Timothy K. Michels), Kathleen McAvoy (Joseph McAvoy), and Michelle Zalucki (James Zalucki); grandfather to 14 grandchildren; great grandfather to 11 great-grand children; brother to Frances Longshore; brother-in-law to Jean Delcher and Sandy Zitzer; uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Cascio; parents Salvatore J. Cascio and Quincy Jane Cascio; brothers Frederick L. Cascio and James McElroy; brother-in-law Boyce Longshore; and sister-in-laws Catherine, Ruth McElroy and Catherine Cascio.
