Rosalie Emrich, 97, of Catonsville, MD died May 3, 2020 at Westminster Healthcare Center of complications of the Corona Virus.
Born Rosalie Juanita Downes September 23, 1922 in Fredericksburg, VA, she was predeceased by her loving husband Charles (Goody) Emrich in 1999, her parents Willard and Rosalie Kaiser Downes, and her brothers Willard, Carroll, Melvin, Fielder and Kenneth Downes. She is survived by her long time companion Robert Slaght of Catonsville and many loving nieces and nephews.
Along with her late husband, she was actively involved in the rebuilding of Rolling Road Country Club and until her early nineties, could be found either
playing golf (she was 7 times club women's champion) or enjoying a game of cards with her friends in the card room. A series of strokes in the last several years left her voiceless, but still able to make her wishes known. She is remembered by those who loved her for her mischievous wit, her sense of humor and her "impish zest for life". She was happiest playing golf or sitting with friends and family sharing a mound of steamed crabs and was especially proud of her spectacular home grown tomatoes.
A virtual memorial service was held on Saturday, May 9th and a more formal gathering will be held at a later date.
Burial in the family plot at Oak Hill Cemetery in Fredericksburg will be private.
Donations in her name can be made to Catholic Charities or to the World Wildlife Fund.
