Nadia White Obituary

Nadia L. White (nee Nadia Luba Beryk), born September 11, 1938, went to join her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on March 16, 2021 peacefully but unexpectedly in her sleep. Nadia loved playing the organ and piano, teaching, baking, and taking care of her family including her beloved dogs Max and Lady. She taught for several years in the Howard County school system, sharing her love for baking and home economics. For 25 years she taught fourth grade and music at Emmanuel Christian Day School where she directed the annual school musical to a packed house and standing ovations. She played organ and piano for services at Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she directed various choirs, including the ECDS recorder choir, Christmas choirs, and the Junior Choir. She also served countless thousands of travelers through BWI Airport as a ticket agent and gate agent with US Airways. Whether preparing delicious meals and desserts for her family, or blessing fellow teachers, the worship team at Grace Fellowship Church, or the staff at her veterinarian's office with her home-baked treats, she always found ways to share her God-given gifts.

Followed into glory by her husband of 55 years Bernard Edgar White in October 2021, Nadia is survived by sister Sophia Schultz, son Eric, daughter-in-law Valarie, daughter Jennifer, granddaughters Serenity and Melody, nephews George Schultz and John Schultz and their families and niece Marianna Schultz, as well as her beloved dachshund Max, now 17. She was born in Fort William, Ontario, Canada to Anthony and Cecilia Beryk and grew up speaking Ukrainian as her first language and attending Ukrainian Orthodox services at the parishes where her father served in Woonsocket, RI, Minersville, PA, and Cleveland, OH. She studied music and home economics at the University of Maryland College Park where she met her husband Bernard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or Grace Fellowship Church.

A celebration of Nadia’s life will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 beginning at 1:30pm at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, located at 929 Ingleside Ave. in Catonsville.
