Mark Parr Obituary

Mark Gregory Parr, 62, of Washington DC, formerly of Catonsville, MD, passed away August 26, 2019 of Alzheimer’s Disease outside of Baltimore, Maryland.

Beloved husband of Kim Parr (nee Grube). Devoted son of June Parr and the late Frank Timothy Parr. Loving father of Sarah Heckler (Jim), Emily Parr, Lanie Cauceglia (Greg) and Alex Parr. Dear brother of Mary Lee Busick, Tim and Patrick Parr. Cherished grandfather of Willa and Felix Heckler.

He was a graduate of Mt. St. Joe High School, Loyola College of Maryland and married his wife Kim in 1981, while working at Ernst & Whinney. After the four children were born (1982, 1983, 1987, 1989), Mark & Kim moved to Westborough, Massachusetts (1994) where Mark went on to work in C.P.A. positions for Marriott, Grand Circle Travel and Ernst & Young. Mark became a partner at Ernst & Young before finishing his career at Constellation Energy, bringing him closer to his hometown, where the family settled in Washington, DC.

Mark enjoyed giving back to the community through volunteer work for the Special Olympics of Maryland and with the Garden Guild at the Franciscan Monastery, DC.

Mark spent his recreational time coaching his children’s Softball, Basketball and Soccer teams; Training and running marathons (Boston Marathon 1996, Disney Marathon 2010); and Kayaking in Lake Tashmoo on Martha’s Vineyard, where he and the family loved to spend their summers.

He will be remembered as an inspiring husband, father + friend; motivational coach and mentor; a devout Catholic; and charismatic force of light and love.
