Frank Morton Williams was the fourth of seven children born July 18, 1929, in Fleetville PA. Wanting to fly, he enlisted in the newest military branch, the Air Force, straight out of high school. He qualified for Officers Candidate School, and after getting commissioned, served as a navigator/bombardier on B-47 and B-52 bombers. He rose to the rank of Major before retiring in 1968. The rest of his career was spent as a Special Claims Examiner for Social Security in Woodlawn, MD.
Major Williams is best remembered for loving his family. He married Joan Gardner in 1954, and they had four children. His favorite activities were coaching and playing softball with his daughters and sons, and doing anything at all with his grandkids. He became a devoted Ravens and Orioles fan after relocating to Baltimore in 1969.
Major Williams is survived by two sisters, Roberta and Jessie, four children, David, Susan, Alan, and Jane, six grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah, Daniel, Emily, Matthew, and Christopher, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
For those wishing, donations may be made to the Salvation Army and/or Samaritan’s Purse.
