Kelly Murray Obituary

Kelly Gerard Murray, beloved partner, father and Pappy, passed away on October 12th at the age of 63 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Kelly was blessed to be born into a giant and loving family which would ultimately grow into 13kids with Kelly at #7 - born smack in the middle. He looked up to his older brothers and was idolized by his younger sisters. Kelly was predeceased by his parents John and Lois (nee Mueting) Murray. He is survived by his partner in life, Becky Marcus and her son Zachary Marcus; his ex-wife Deborah Murray, his son Zachary Murray, his daughter-in-law Adrienne Murray and two grandchildren Jonah and Willa. Also by his 12 siblings, John Murray, Lynn Hall, David Murray, Ann Parker, Becky Brothers, Jill Hunter, Beth Murray, Chris Murray, Elaine Childs, Amy Newbury-Smith, Shannon Lee, and Dana Wynn. He was baptized and raised in the Catholic faith and attended school at St. Ann’s Catholic School in Carthage, Missouri and McAuley Catholic in Joplin, MO. Kelly was a basketball star and, with his quiet sense of humor, was loved by all who knew him. At 18, Kelly enlisted in the U.S. Air Force - serving Taiwan, England, Texas, Hawaii and Maryland. He was a signals and morse code operator and later a computer systems analyst. On retirement from the Air Force after 20 years, Kelly continued his work with computers and signals intelligence. In total he dedicated over 45 years of his life in direct defense of our nation. He loved playing with his grand-kids -Jonah and Willa, riding his Harley with Becky, shooting pool with friends, going to live music events, and traveling especially in the Southwest.

Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery later this year.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Wreaths Across America or the Bea Gaddy Family Center.
