Karen Leigh Snyder, 56, of Bear Creek, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2021. 

She was born to Mary Robinson and Ronald Dreibelbis on Aug. 13, 1964, in Newark, Delaware. Karen graduated from Kent County High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Towson University in 1984. 

While working together at a popular department store in Owings Mills, Karen met the love of her life, Michael Snyder, and after a brief, whirlwind romance, they married in 1991. They went on to have three children together: Chelsea, Chandler and Shelby. 

Karen was extremely family-oriented and treasured spending time with her loved ones on the water. They frequented a family property in Ocean City during the summers and it became an annual tradition to celebrate Karen and Chelsea’s birthday there each August. In 2017, she was thrilled to make the move from Ellicott City to a waterfront home in Dundalk, where she was able to spend most of her free time boating and fishing.

When she wasn’t near the water, Karen spent her time pursuing a 25-year career in healthcare and enjoying hobbies such as cooking, crafting and diamond painting. She was especially fond of applying her creativity to special, one-on-one craft projects with her son Chandler, which most recently included a detailed diorama reenacting the famous 1836 Battle of the Alamo.

Karen is survived by her husband Michael and their three children; her mother; and her father and stepmother Joan Dreibelbis. 

In accordance with Karen’s wishes, the family is planning a Celebration of Life with extended family and friends to be held in the coming months.
