Joyce Armstrong Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Joyce Marie Armstrong (nee Snair) announces that on Wednesday June 19, 2019, she went home to Our Lord, where she was reunited with her beloved ‘Obie’.

Joyce was born on April 6, 1936 to John Louis Snair, Jr. and Marie Helen Snair (nee Miles), in Baltimore, Maryland.  Joyce was the older sister of John Louis Snair, III, and she was the cherished wife of the late Robert Merritt Armstrong, Sr. (fondly known to many as ‘Obie’). Joyce and Obie were married for 58 years, and together they had four children: Deborah Armstrong Campion (Brian), Robert Merritt Armstrong, Jr. (Cheri), Mark Steven Armstrong (Trish), and Douglas Edward Armstrong (Tonja).

She was adored by her grandchildren: Shannon Benedetto (Gary), Shawn Campion, Shane Armstrong (deceased), Lindsay Lindquist (Michael), James Armstrong (Elizabeth), Megan Askine (Kyle), Kristine Moore (Justin), Robert Armstrong (Alison), Jeremy Armstrong, and Charles Armstrong.

Joyce was Mom-Mom to all especially her great-grandchildren: Lucas, Mia, Jenna, Evan, Riley, Avery, Aiden, Isaac, Timothy, Madison, Ansley, and Camryn.

Joyce also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

While her family was the undoubted center of her life, Joyce also had a passion for traveling, and together she and Obie circled the globe. Later in life they also traveled around North America in their trusty Winnebago.  No one was prouder of their Irish heritage than Joyce, and no one was prouder when in 2000 Joyce became a dual-citizen of the United States of America and Ireland. Joyce also was a voracious reader, enjoyed working on a good crossword puzzle, and every summer would vacation with her family at the beach.
