Ingeborg Hedwig (Grabner) Jones

Ingeborg (Inge) Jones of Catonsville, MD passed away peacefully on May 26, 2019 in hospice at Glynn Taff Assisted Living.

Inge was born in Oederan, Saxony, Germany in 1922. At the age of two, Inge and her mother sailed to New York landing at Ellis Island where shortly thereafter they reunited with Inge’s father Charles (Charlie) Grabner. The family lived in Baltimore City where Inge graduated from Western High School. After graduation Inge worked at Montgomery Wards on Monroe Street selling building supplies during World War II.

Inge married her sweetheart, Norman Jones in January 1946. After the birth of their daughter in 1952, Inge retired from Montgomery Wards and became a lifelong homemaker. In 1954 Inge and Norman bought a home in a new development being constructed in Catonsville off of Delrey Avenue (Inglewood). In 1958 their son was born and the family was now complete. Inge enjoyed raising her children and taking annual family vacations.

Following hospitalization and rehabilitation in 2015 for a broken hip, Inge became a resident of Glynn Taff Assisted Living in Catonsville where she enjoyed various group activities and monthly outings at local restaurants.

Inge was pre-deceased by her husband Norman Jones and her sister Hilda Shepherd. Inge is survived by her children Carol Baer (Tim) and Norman Jones, Jr. (Virginia). She is also survived by her sister Helen Strzepka, and nephews Richard Shepherd (Grace), Scott Shepherd (Karen) and Ronald Jones (Bonnie).

Family and friends may call at the CANDLE LIGHT FUNERAL HOME by Craig Witzke on Thursday, June 6th, 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Funeral service, Friday, 10 am, June 7th, at the funeral home. Interment Loudon Park Cemetery.
