Emil Lazur Obituary

Emil Lazur, 92, of Catonsville, MD, died peacefully at home, Sunday, July 24, surrounded by family members.

Born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, where he met and married Carol Palumbo, Emil made Catonsville his home since 1962 with his loving wife, who passed in 2017. He was a devoted husband and father to their 5 children, Stephen Lazur (Trudy), Ann Marie Patke (Dan), Catherine King (David), Lisa Lazur and Eric Lazur. He also leaves behind 5 beautiful granddaughters, Ashley Johnson (Rob), Rachel King, Rita Whitney (Whit), Allison Lazur (Ben) and Amanda Lazur, and 4 adored great grandchildren, Sabrina, Jackson, Isabella and Elliot and 2 bonus great grandchildren, Xavier and Henrik. Emil was the youngest of 8 children, preceded in death by his parents George and Anna Lazur, as well as 4 brothers and 3 sisters to whom he was forever grateful for helping to raise him.

Emil's outgoing personality and quick wit served him well in his career as a lifelong salesman in various fields. He greatly enjoyed singing at many family events, entertaining all, and spent many years acting and singing in numerous plays with the Catonsville Little Theater. He also served for many years as a cantor at St. Mark's Church. Emil was a proud patriot and Korean War veteran. He was notorious on Melvin Avenue for his daily display of the American flag and for playing patriotic music every Fourth of July for all the neighborhood and Catonsville parade goers to enjoy.

Visitation will be held at the Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Rd. Catonsville, MD 21228 on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
