Earl Seboda, Sr. Obituary

On February 1, 2022, Earl Frank Seboda, known as Captain Pop by his grandchildren, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones. Earl was the beloved father of Jackie Pfeiler (Eric), Earl Jr (Sue), father-in-law of David King, beloved grandfather of David King Jr, Daniel King, Max Pfeiler, Katie Pfeiler and Tyler King. Earl was predeceased by his cherished wife Carol and daughter Debi King.

Earl was born on August 10, 1938, in Baltimore Maryland to Maximillian and Margaret Seboda.  He attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and earned a mechanical engineering degree at University of Maryland. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and attained the rank of Lieutenant. After his discharge, Earl pursued his passion, engineering, in a fulfilling career which culminated in his appointment as Secretary of General Services for the State of Maryland.

Earl was a man of the outdoors.  He had a lifelong love of boating and spent many happy years at Baltimore Yacht Club.  With retirement, Earl and Carol traveled extensively and enjoyed their cabin in western Maryland.  Earl skied in the winter and sailed in the summer.  Fall was dedicated to football and his beloved Ravens.  His other interests included jazz, woodworking and investing.  In later years, Earl kayaked with friends in Southern Maryland, holding court on a summer afternoon while discussing everything under the sun.  Most of all Earl enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He will be reunited with the love of his life, Carol.

The family will receive friends at Candlelight Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Rd, Catonsville, MD 21228 Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at which point the service will begin.  A luncheon will follow at 1:00 pm at Mathews 1600, 1600 Frederick Rd, Catonsville, MD 21228. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Mount De Sales Academy or the Wounded Warrior Project
