Doris Krause Obituary

Doris B. Krause, 91, a longtime resident of Catonsville and Ocean Pines, passed away at Somerford Place of Columbia on Thursday, April 23, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles J. Krause, Jr.  She is survived by her loving children: Mark Krause and his wife Deborah of Ellicott City, MD; Gregory Krause and his wife Joyce of Queenstown, MD; as well as her four grandchildren - Samantha Jones (husband Ryan), Jessica, Taylor and Ryan Krause; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerome and Angela Krause; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris grew up in Curtis Bay as the youngest of eight children to her parents who owned a tailor shop on Pennington Avenue.  She learned to sew at a young age.  After graduating from Southern High School in 1947, she married Chuck, the love of her life, in 1949. Over the years Doris worked in a variety of secretarial positions beginning at the C&P Telephone Company upon moving to Catonsville in 1960.  After taking time off to raise her two sons, she returned to work as a legal secretary as well as a secretary for the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks, and the Baltimore County Public School System from which she retired in 1991. After retirement, Doris and Chuck moved to Ocean Pines where she took up gardening and crafts.  She also enjoyed baking, singing and playing the maracas.  Everyone who met her said she always had a smile on her face.  She will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Mass and gathering for Doris will be held on a future date.  Interment is private.
