William Joseph Jahnigen

William Joseph Jahnigen (Bill), 83 of Elliott City & Catonsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 10, 1942 in Maryland, Bill was the beloved son of Albert Parker and Barbara Genevieve (nee Chew) Jahnigen. He grew into a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend whose warmth, humor and kindness touched every life he encountered.

Bill is survived by his cherished wife Deborah; his loving daughter, Laura, and her husband Jamie Rudy; and his treasured grandchildren - Grace, Caroline, Ella and Anna James - who brought immense joy and pride to his life. He is also survived by his siblings Albert Jahnigen, Angela McClosky, and Mary Lou Simmons, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

He is preceded in death by his beloved son, John Robert Jahnigen, and by his siblings John Jahnigen, Barbara Fink, Thomas Jahnigen, James Jahnigen, Alice Simpson, and Bonnie Simpson.

Bill lived a full and spirited life. He was an active member of The Professional Social Club, The High-Low Golf Club, and a loyal participant in the Pitch Club, where he enjoyed camaraderie, laughter, and countless friendships over the years. His presence - steady, warm and always ready with a joke or a story - will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Above all, Bill loved his family. He was a man who showed up, who cared fiercely, and who found joy in the simple moments spent with those he loved most.

His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, whose lives are better for having known him.

Family and friends may gather at Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, for a Visitation from 3:00-5:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mark Chapel, 30 Melvin Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228 on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 10:00am. A Graveside Service will immediately follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784.
