Timothy Lee McManus, a devoted father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family on July 23, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Regina McManus, as well as his brother, Robert McManus, Jr.
Tim is survived by his former spouse, Joanne, and their loving sons, Michael McManus, Christopher McManus (Maureen), Patrick McManus (Adam Kelley), as well as their cherished grandchildren, Kelsey McManus, Timothy McManus (Brianna), Michael McManus, and Matthew McManus.
As a young high school graduate, Tim enlisted in the Coast Guard, where he got the opportunity to see the world and where his love of the sea flourished. After his honorable discharge, he pursued his college degree by going to night classes while working with Westinghouse. After obtaining his CPA in accounting, he began working with Fair Lanes Inc., where he started in the payroll division.
He would stay with Fair Lanes for over 25 years, rising to VP in charge of budgeting. He then moved to a sister company, EFT, where he became the CFO. This company was one of the first weather satellite companies to work with Doppler Systems.
Tim’s real joy was found in his “retired years,” when he achieved his Captain's license and started up a few of his own endeavors. He started the “River Runner” water taxi in Easton and owned “Little Boat Rentals” on the Tred Avon River. Later, he ran the Baltimore Harbor water taxis. He loved to fish, crab, sail, and spend time on the water.
He loved all sports, but baseball was his favorite. He loved watching our Orioles. He spent many happy days watching his grandchildren play the sport as well.
An avid animal lover, Tim especially adored birds and his dogs, Megan, Jameson and Finnigan, who each brought immense joy and companionship into his life.
Tim’s memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched with his compassion and wisdom. He will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was the definition of a true gentleman.
Memorial services will be hosted at Kelsey’s Restaurant, 8480 Baltimore National Pike Ellicott City, MD 21043 on August 18 from 4:00-7:00 pm, with remarks welcome beginning at 6:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Tim’s name to The Chesapeake Bay Foundation or the Maryland Waterman’s Association .
