Thomas "Tom" Leon Rainville Sr., of Catonsville, Maryland, passed away surrounded by family on February 10, 2026, at the age of 84. Beloved son of Leon Herbert Rainville and Joyce Charbaneau Rainville, stepson of Marjorie Card, and brother of Ronald David Rainville and Annette Marie Schwanke, all of whom preceded him in death, he was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. A man wholly dedicated to his family, Tom is remembered as a gentle and loving patriarch of the ever-growing Rainville family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Carmel "Rusty" (née Weinkam) Rainville; his children, Thomas "Tommy" (Linda) Rainville Jr., Meghan (Shane) Hapney, Erin (Matt) Lancea, Edward "Ted" (Monica) Rainville, Timothy "Tim" (Rosalin) Rainville, and Caitlin (Steve) Hook; his grandchildren, Rachel (Patrick), Holly (Sean), Sydney (Gavin), Jordan, Kylie, Liam, Colby, Henry, Olivia, Leo, Avery, Jacob, Bruno, Lucas, Valentino, Isabella, Hailey, and Stephen; and his great-grandchildren, Freddie, Abby, and Penelope.
As the son of a United States Army Major, Tom spent his early years living across the United States and abroad. He graduated from Berlin American High School in Germany, attended the United States Military Academy Preparatory School, West Point Military Academy, the University of San Francisco, and later earned a degree in industrial engineering from Johns Hopkins University. After serving his country, Tom dedicated his career to Westinghouse Electric Company, IBM, the Social Security Administration, Catonsville High School, and the Baltimore County Department of Economic and Workforce Development. Outside of work, Tom was known as a master chef, baker, cigar connoisseur, beach lover, and amateur chicken farmer. He will be fondly remembered for his warm and gentle spirit.
Friends and family may gather on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm for a Celebration of Life at The Chapel in Catonsville, 600 Frederick Rd. Catonsville, MD 21228. In lieu of flowers, donations are respectfully requested in Tom's honor to Gilchrist Center Howard County.
