Thomas Kelly

June 3, 1942 — August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, Thomas Blakeney Kelly (Tom) of Catonsville, MD passed away.

Tom was an outgoing friendly soul who is survived by a loving family, including his wife of 59 years, Marge (nee DiMassimo), his three children Michelle (Roger), Kathy (Jim), and Tom, Jr. (Judy), eight grandchildren, Thomas, Katie, Anna, Christian, Alison, Maria, Kaia, and Dominic, his sister-in-law, Susan Kelly, and many nieces, nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.

Tom was born in Baltimore on June 3, 1942 to Frank and Camille (nee Blakeney) Kelly, both deceased. In addition to his parents, Tom is also preceded in death by his dear brothers, David and James. The Kelly boys were close and had many adventures together; David and Jimmy’s passing within 18 months of each other and at young ages left a hole in the Kelly clan.

Tom was gregarious, extraordinarily outgoing, and loved being with other people. He lived his entire life within 10 minutes of his childhood home in Irvington and had a long list of friends that spanned his 83 years.

Tom was loyal not only to his family, friends, and community, but also to his employer. He worked for Martin Supply Company for 54 years in sales, a perfect match for his outgoing nature. He was a long-timer member of the Maryland Sign Association, and over his long career in sales Tom’s customers and colleagues became friends. Tom also served our country in the mid-1960s in the Army Reserves.

He was devoted to his alma mater, Mount St. Joseph (class of 1960),and would gather with his fellow Golden Gaels several times a year up until his passing.

His second home was Rolling Road Golf Club (“The Road”). If he wasn’t working or with his family, chances are you could find Tom at “The Road” where you might find him golfing, playing cards, watching football, or chatting up one of his many friends. Tom was involved at Rolling Road in many different capacities, including once serving as president.

In addition to his family, Tom leaves behind many friends who will miss his booming voice, quick smile, and friendly greeting.

We will be gathering to celebrate Tom at Candle Light Funeral Home on Monday, August 11th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Church in Halethorpe, his home parish of 58 years, on Tuesday, August 12th at 11 a.m. A luncheon at Rolling Road Golf Club will immediately follow Mass.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Tom with a donation to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Breakthrough T1D, formerly JDRF

Rest easy, Tom, Dad, Pop Pop, Uncle Tom. We miss you and we love you.
