Thomas Allan Adams, 69, of Woodlawn, died November 20, 2025, at University of Maryland Saint Joseph’s Medical Center.
He was born on October 1, 1956, to Duncan Lewis Adams, Jr. and Ida Louise Adams (Maben) in Baltimore, Maryland.
He was twice widowed. He married Katherine (Kay) Martin in February 1990. After her passing, he married Jane Galloway in 1999.
He began his career at Kernan Hospital while in high school and worked his way up to the position of purchasing agent. Eventually he became self-employed, traveling to many hospitals in the region to sharpen and service their medical instruments. Later in life, he worked as a groundskeeper at the Catonsville Campus of the Community College of Baltimore County until his retirement in 2023.
Tom was generous, not only in a material sense, but especially with his time and extensive mechanical knowledge and skills. For any who would ask he would gladly repair all sizes of engines and all types of vehicles. He was known for his loyalty, humor, and gregariousness and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. His fearlessness on a riding mower was legendary, earning him the title “King of Suicide Hill” from his coworkers. His hobbies included spending time outdoors, fishing and camping, reading about Civil War history, and collecting coins, model cars, and other memorabilia. Tom had recently returned to his enthusiasm for playing the drums, which he had initially become interested in as a young man in the Cardinal Gibbons’ marching band.
Tom is survived by his stepdaughter Sabrena Lynn Perry and her son Ace, brothers Duncan Adams (Betty) and Daniel Adams (Ellen), sister Nancy Adams Jones (Scott), a nephew and many nieces.
He is preceded in death by his wives Katherine Adams and Jane Adams, father Duncan Adams, mother Ida Adams, and brother Jeffrey John Adams.
Visitation and memorial service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Candle Light Funeral Home in Catonsville.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
