Susan Marie Schall was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, on August 17, 1954. She passed peacefully on December 7, 2025, in Ellicott City, MD, at the age of 71. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Susan Kolodinsky. She is survived by her loving children, Emily Hall and Andrew Schall, and by her dear siblings, Mary Ann Orlowski, Nicholas Kolodinsky, and Ellen Gigliotti. Her loss will also be felt by her grandchildren, Jovie and Kaiden Hall, and numerous family and friends whose lives were touched by hers.
Known for her loud, infectious laughter, sense of humor, and elegance; she also excelled academically. She graduated from Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing (1976) and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bloomsburg State College (1983). She spent many years in Huntingdon, PA, as a devoted mother to Emily and Andrew. As her children grew older, she earned a Master of Education Degree in Counseling Education from the Pennsylvania State University (1996) and became a certified rehabilitation counselor, practicing for many years in Johnstown, PA.
Her life will be celebrated at a memorial gathering taking place on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with a service at 10:00 AM at the Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228. Burial will follow at Serenity Ridge Natural Burial Cemetery, 2406 Ridge Road, Windsor Mill, MD 21244.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you spend time with a loved one. Donations can also be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Gilchrist Hospice Care, which are causes meaningful to Susan and her family.
