Steven Jacob Haar was born in South Dakota on June 23, 1958, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and dedicated educator. He passed peacefully on July 23, 2026, at the age of 68. He was preceded in death by his father, Duane Haar.

Steven is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Lynn Haar (Nee Lutz). As well as his loving children, Jonathan Haar (Carolyn), David Haar, Aaron Haar (Tori) and dear siblings, Jeff Haar (Ashera), Greg Haar (Tina), Frank Haar, and Janet Glover (John). He was also a cherished grandfather to Layla, Jesse, Evelyn and Riley. His loss will be felt by his numerous nieces and nephews as well as many other caring family and friends. Steve was welcomed into God's family through Holy Baptism on July 13, 1958, and later confirmed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior in May 1972. On July 24, 2026 he entered his eternal rest. Through faith in Jesus Christ, Steve is now with his Savior in heaven and awaits the glorious day of the resurrection.

Steve devoted his life to education and serving others. He attended Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, where he earned his degree in Secondary Education with concentrations in Mathematics and Physical Education. He earned a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Throughout his career, Steve's versatility led him to have many different job roles in relationship to teaching, coaching, administration, technology, and maintenance support. Notably, he taught Math at Concordia Preparatory School, formerly known as Baltimore Lutheran, for 27 years. There he also coached wrestling, and had the opportunity to coach all three of his sons. He ended his career as Operations Manager at St. Paul Catonsville Church and School. Whether in the classroom, the church, or the community, Steve sought to encourage and serve those around him.

Many knew Steve as a teacher, a church guitarist and singer, or simply as the man with the endless supply of dad jokes and puns. He never missed an opportunity to share his faith, lend a helping hand, or serve his church. Above all, Steve loved his family deeply and took great joy in being a grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In honor of Steven's legacy, the family invites all to join in remembering a wonderful man who lived a life filled with compassion, service, and love. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church & School.
