Serafino Gentile

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Serafino Gentile, age 93, who died peacefully on March 31, 2026.

Fino lived a long and steady life marked by hard work and a sense of humor that stayed with him to the end. Born in NYC, he spent his life working as a master stone mason, where his attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship left a quiet but lasting mark on the homes and people around him. He enjoyed early mornings, strong coffee, and conversations where he could share stories of years past.

Others appreciated Fino for his humble and down-to-earth approach to life. Fino had many long and enduring friendships; he appreciated his friends and was loyal to them. He loved to laugh and play jokes on those close to him.

Fino served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

His passion was racehorses, and he enjoyed outings to Charles Town, WV, to watch his horses run.

He is survived by, Sally, his beloved wife of 69 years; his sons, Sal (daughter-in-law Melanie), and Brian, his two grandchildren, David and Elise Gentile and their mother, Beth Gentile. He was preceded in death by his parents (Salvatore & Concetta) and his siblings Anthony, Frank, and Antonetta.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A private family service will be held. Famiiy and friends may gather at Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228 for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 12:00pm-2:00pm with a memorial service taking place at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Fino's memory.
