Ronald Edwin Young passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, leaving behind a life remembered for service, community, and a deep appreciation for the simple beauty of the world around him. Ron was born on October 11, 1947, he was predeceased by his mother Catherine Young.
Ronald proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1965 to 1971. His years of service reflected a commitment to something greater than himself, a quality he carried throughout his life.
For many in the community, Ronald will be remembered most fondly as the longtime owner of Ferguson's Hardware, a beloved neighborhood fixture in the Paradise community and one of the last traditional small-town hardware stores of its kind. More than simply a place to purchase a tool or find something needed for a home project, Ferguson's was a gathering place-a familiar part of the community where generations of customers were welcomed. Its closing marked the end of an era, but the memories created there continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew it.
Away from the store, Ronald found joy in the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hiking and spending time surrounded by nature, appreciating the quiet moments and beauty found along the trail. His love of the outdoors reflected a thoughtful appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
Ronald is survived by his beloved wife, Natividad Young; his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Shirley Sanphilipo; his niece, Mary Sanphilipo; his great-niece; Shannon Ward, and great-nephew, Aiden Ward. He will also be remembered by the many friends, neighbors, customers, and community members whose lives he touched throughout the years.
Ronald's life was woven into the fabric of his community, and while Ferguson's Hardware may have closed its doors, the warmth and memories associated with both the store and the man behind it remain. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please check back for details.
