Robert "Bob" Holsinger passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at his daughter's home in Baltimore, Maryland. He was 78 years old. Bob was born on July 7, 1947, in Chicago Illinois to his parents, the late Frank E. Holsinger and Margaret (Bauer) Holsinger. He was an avid wrestler while he attended LaSalle-Peru Township High School, became known as "Powerhouse," and qualified for state championship three years in a row. He served in the US Navy from 1966 to 1970 and attained the rank of Yeoman Third Class and served in the Vietnam War. Bob was proud to have served his country in the military and never went anywhere without wearing his navy-blue veterans ballcap. He worked as a freight worker at Consolidated Freightways for 25 years and then a security guard for the VA Home and IVCC.

Bob was a dedicated fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox. He loved to watch the sports games at White Way Tavern with his friends. His hobbies later in life were gardening and watching Sci-Fi reruns on TV.

Bob is survived by his children, Dawn (John) Pfluger and Donovan Holsinger. He was the oldest of his siblings, Frank (Deb) Holsinger and Patricia (Jim) Till. Bob was a cherished grandfather to Alexander Pfluger, Angelina (Jacob) Sherman, Andrew Pfluger, Aidan Pfluger, and Zachary Holsinger, along with being the great grandfather to Milo Sherman and Ruth Sherman. His nieces and nephews are Jennifer Till, Eric Holsinger, Chad Holsinger, Skye Holsinger and Tobi Holsinger. He is preceded in death by his parents and nephew Justin Till.

Bob loved his family more than he was able to express. He moved to Maryland so he could be closer to family and be cared for by his loving daughter and son-in-law who were both devoted to honoring his strong will to keep on living despite his many challenges since courageously surviving stage IV cancer.

Friends and family are welcome to gather for a viewing at Candle Light Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 9th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Bob will be buried at the Peru City Cemetery in Peru, Illinois in a private graveside ceremony. The family welcomes plant contributions to finalize the memorial garden being created in Bob's honor.
