Noreen “Renee” Annette Bennett (Nee Apicella), 72, of Edgewater, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, in Annapolis.

Born on September 23, 1953, in Baltimore, Renee was the beloved daughter of the late Alphonse and Eleanor Apicella. She graduated from Archbishop Keough High School in 1971 and went on to build a remarkable life centered on faith, family, creativity, and hard work.

A talented photographer, gifted decorator, and gracious host, Renee had a special way of making everyone feel welcome. Her creativity shined through in every gathering she hosted and every space she touched. Above all, she was family-oriented and treasured the relationships she shared with her loved ones.

Renee was a devoted member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and generously opened her home over the years to Midshipmen from the United States Naval Academy, offering kindness, encouragement, and a sense of family away from home.

She is survived by her loving husband, George Bennett, with whom she shared 50 loving years of marriage; her siblings Rosemarie Hunt; JoAnne Elliott (Jim); Carole Miller (Scott); Jerry Apicella (Carol); and Toni Donovan (David); and her many cherished godchildren, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Renee was preceded in death by her sister, Vera Melvin.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Renee’s life on Thursday, May 14, 2026, for visitation from 3:00–5:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM at Candle Light Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial and Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, located at 101 Owensville Road, West River, MD 20778, officiated by Father Jamie Lancellotta.
