Melvin John Sanders, Jr.

Melvin John Sanders, Jr., of Halethorpe, Maryland, passed away on April 30, 2026. He was 90 years old. Mel was born on January 15, 1936, in Maryland to his parents, Melvin Sanders, Sr., and Irene (nee Burch) Sanders.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara (nee Thompson) Sanders; his loving children, Christopher Brooks Denbow and his wife Tammie Denbow, and Melanie Ann Haynes and her husband Michael Haynes; and his cherished grandchildren, Patrick Christopher Denbow, Tyler Nicholas Denbow, and Paul Michael Haynes. He is preceded in death by his dear parents, Melvin and Irene, and his infant son, Guy Harrison Sanders.

Family and friends may gather at Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228 on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 10:00am-12:00pm, with a Funeral Service to take place at 12:00pm. Graveside Service will follow at Loudon Park Cemetery, 3620 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21229.
