Maxine Elizabeth Beaulieu

September 8, 1925 — December 4, 2025

Maxine Elizabeth (Wheeler) Beaulieu was born in Spotsylvania, Virginia in her grandmother’s farmhouse, on September 8, 1925. She passed peacefully on December 4, 2025, at the age of 100. She was preceded in death by her parents, James “Boots” Wheeler and Sadie Wheeler (Nee Hairfield), her husband, Marcel Beaulieu, her daughter, Patricia Ann Beaulieu and sister, Odine Clark.

Maxine was a farm girl, but when she graduated from Orange High School in 1943, she left the country for the big city of Washington, DC where she worked for the FBI. While on a train back to DC from a visit with her aunt in Maryland, she met a young serviceman, Marcel Beaulieu, from upstate New York who was travelling to DC to visit his sister. They kept in touch through letters. After he returned from a European tour, they continued their romance stateside and married in 1946. The southern girl moved to “the north”, making a home with Mark in the apartment above his French-speaking parents in Schenectady, NY. After the birth of their first two children, the family moved to a new home in the suburb of Glenville, NY.

After her youngest child was school-aged, Maxine began working at the new locally-owned Carl Co. dept. store. Working in the women’s department suited her love of fashion and dressing up. It was a tight community of women who worked at the Carl Co. for years together, celebrating and supporting each other while raising families.

Faith and family were always priorities for Maxine. First with Sunday dinners following Mass which rotated through Mark’s siblings’ homes, also celebrating First Communions, Confirmations, and birthdays. Later, she and Mark used every opportunity to visit their children as they moved to places throughout the US, including a trip to Europe during their daughter’s year abroad.

Several years after Mark’s death in 1997, Maxine decided to move closer to where her three children and families lived. In August 2004, she moved to Charlestown Retirement community in Catonsville, MD. At Charlestown she was involved in numerous activities including volunteering, both at the Treasure Sale and through the church, playing Bacci, and becoming an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. She saw her adult children and their families often and made friendships that she held dear.

This past September her family and friends celebrated her 100th birthday! This was a milestone that she was both proud of and wondered how this could have happened. She was an unfailingly friendly person, seemingly quiet but unafraid to let you know she had a voice and opinions!

Maxine is survived by her loving children, John M. Beaulieu (Barbara) and Michele E. Beaulieu (Joseph Carrese). She is the cherished grandmother of Chris Anderson (Terri), Nichole Anderson, Leslie Carrese (Lukas), and Christopher Carrese. She adored her great grandchildren, Austin Anderson, Whitney Limpert (Sam), Patrick Easton, Evan Easton and great-great grandchildren, Dean and Kennedy Limpert; She held dear her niece, Gail Clark Bittman (Michael), nephew, Terry Clark (Mimi), niece Margie Wyant and nephews Freddy Beaulieu and Larry Steuer. Her loss will be felt by many other caring family and friends.

Family and friends may gather for a visitation on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228.
