Matthew James Tacka

Matthew "Matt" James Tacka, 55, of Baltimore, MD passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026 surrounded by family.

Matt was born on October 17, 1970 and is now reunited with his loving parents, Thomas and Mary Walton Tacka.

He was a loving brother to Bob (Janet), Kenny (Anne), Andy (Chris), and Maribeth (Barry). He was also loved by his eight nieces and nephews, his aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

He leaves behind his children, Madison Jean (CJ), Morgan Jaymes, and Mackenzie Jordyn, and his grandson Luca.

He is also survived by his dedicated and loving partner, Jennifer "Jenny" Johns-Gooding.

Matt grew up in Catonsville, MD, where his love of music and performing began at an early age. He was nine years old when he played bass guitar at his first "gig" with his family's band, KRAMM. There was no going back! He continued playing bass in local bands, sometimes filling in on the keyboards and guitar. He also composed his own beautiful music.

His voice has been well known on the airwaves. He has reported news, weather, traffic, and been the host on various radio stations for many years, most recently on WYPR.

Matt displayed incredible courage and determination throughout many health challenges. He astounded his medical teams with his positive attitude, humility and kindness. His spirit has touched all who have known him.  Matt will be greatly missed.  We will now carry him in our hearts, grateful for the love, laughter, and music he gave us, trusting that his legacy lives on in all those he touched.
