Lisa Calvo Goodwin, 58, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 26, 1966 to Frank Calvo and Patricia Richardson (nee Gloss). She was preceded in death by her father, Frank. She is survived by her mother Patricia, her devoted spouse, Michael Goodwin, and her loving sons, Cole Calvo Goodwin and Drew Calvo Goodwin. Also loved by her sister Mary Kollman (nee Calvo); uncles, John and Tom Gloss; and aunt, Julie Welsh, and many cousins. Her loss will be felt by many other caring family and friends.
She was a voracious reader, and loved teaching children to read. She worked as an elementary school teacher, but then found her passion as a reading specialist providing early intervention to kindergartners and first-graders in need. After Cole and Drew were born she threw herself into being a full-time mom and transferred her love of reading to her boys. She continued spreading her love of reading by tutoring children from her home.
In lieu of flowers, Lisa’s family has requested that donations be made in her memory to Heifer International (https://www.heifer.org/), a charity she and Mike have supported since 2009.
Friends and family may gather at the Candle Light Funeral Home for Visitation on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mark Chapel, 30 Melvin Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228, on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 10 AM.
