Vibrant, quick-witted, and spirited, Leonora Octavia Delwiche was a loving daughter, cherished sister, beloved friend, and adoring aunt who sparkled with love and whimsy. After a long battle with illness, Leo passed away at MedStar Harbor Hospital on Easter Sunday, April 5, surrounded by her entire immediate family. She was 27 years old.
Born in Columbia, MD, Leo was the daughter of Elizabeth Flow-Delwiche and Stephen Delwiche. As the eighth of nine siblings, Leonora loved her large family above all else and had a big and bright personality that stood out. She was sassy, intelligent, and kind-hearted, the sort of person who could make magic in all situations and always seemed to have a joke up her sleeve or a twinkle in her eye. A natural entertainer, Leo could make anyone laugh and smile, and her quick wit allowed her to connect easily with others. Because of her kindness and gentle spirit, she could make a friend out of anyone.
She will always be remembered for her big heart, her easy sense of humor, and innate playfulness. She was a lover of both people and animals, and she found so much joy in taking care of others, whether it was training her Bernese Mountain Dog, Cosmo, baking with her siblings, or teaching her nephew Graham to walk. Leo especially loved writing personalized notes and creating curated gift and goodie bags to demonstrate her enormous love and care for others.
So many have been touched by her sharp mind and insightfulness. Leo spent many years working in the bakery at Atwaters, where she loved to bake pies alongside her siblings. Most recently, she worked as Program Analyst for the Army Corps of Engineers after graduating from the Honors College at University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2022 with a degree in psychology. Before that, she graduated from the Honors College at the Community College of Baltimore County where she earned her associate degree.
Leo is survived by her parents; siblings Christian Bradley (Morgan Robinson), Ian Lee (Sarah Roesner), Benjamin Thomas (Stephanie Nicolard), Colin Eugene (Amelia Hoffmann), Noah James (Chloe Reichel), Theodore Richard (Aron Ouwerkerk), Anna Catherine, and Rosalina Giovanna; nephew Graham Delwiche and niece Felicity Flow.
Viewings will be held on Wednesday, April 8 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm and from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Candle Light Funeral Home in Catonsville, MD. A service will be held for Leo on Thursday, April 9 at 10 am at St. Mark’s Church in Catonsville.
Leo was playful, thoughtful, gentle, and strong. She will be forever missed.
