Leo Vernon Quinn Sr.

Leo Vernon Quinn, Sr. of Ellicott City, MD passed away peacefully at home with family present on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. He was born on April 15, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland to his parents Samuel Vernon Quinn and Marie Margaret (nee Wubbold). Leo lived a full life in his 88 years on the earth. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran.

Leo is survived by his cherished wife of 61 years, Sara Marie Armetta Quinn; loving sons, Leo V. Quinn Jr. (Mary Bridget), Mark Quinn (Ellen) and Michael Quinn (Dawn). Leo was also an adoring grandfather to Mary Megan Quinn, Leo V. “Chip” Quinn III, Mary Genevieve Quinn, (Brandon), Christian McCormick, and Michelle Kramer. He was also proud to be uncle to Mary C. Martin (George) and George Lawrence Barker (Joyce). Leo was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Marie Quinn, and sisters Carolyn Garbo (Joseph); Evelyn Tenley (Carroll), Helen Anthony (Ray), and Marie Barker (George); grandson Cody Kratzer and niece Charlene Barker.

He was a man of deep faith whose life was shaped and strengthened by the communities of St. Joseph Monstery (Irvington), St. Agnes Church (Baltimore), Mount Saint Joseph High School (Class of 1956), and prayer groups over the years. After discharge from the service, Leo earned a B.S. from the University of Maryland, College Park and created long and endearing relationships as a co-worker and “boss” during his 50 years of employment at Westinghouse which later became Northrop Grumman. He valued education and knowledge, and provided his children and grandchildren with his work ethic and resilience.

Great stories, superior communication skills, and a well-trained mind allowed him to stand out in any crowd and he looked forward to being surrounded by his grandchildren and friends. Leo loved learning about his families’ roots and frequently shared about his genealogy as a Quinn. In his spare time, he loved photography, gardening, working on his pool, and playing the lottery. His lending library of tools made him the envy of neighbors and friends. They knew they could rely on him to own and share pretty much anything. He will leave a lasting legacy on the lives of many.

Family and friends are invited to join his family for visitation on Monday, June 29th from 3-7pm at Candle Light Funeral Home located at 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville MD 21228. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, June 30th at 11:30am at St. Joseph’s Monastery located at 3801 Frederick Road, Baltimore MD 21229. The Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery, located at 3480 St. John’s Lane, Ellicott City, MD 21042, following mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Leo’s honor to St. Joseph’s Monastery (Baltimore, MD) or the Mount Saint Joseph High School Class of 1956 Endowment Fund.
