Laverne Pychock of Catonsville, MD, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025 at the age of 94. She was born March 2, 1931 in Pittsburgh. Graduating from Mount Lebanon High School and meeting Stephen J. Pychock, they married in 1952.Taking advantage of an opportunity at the Government Printing Office, they moved to Silver Spring, Maryland. Laverne enjoyed a career and many friends at Sears in White Oak where she became a mainstay in the credit department. Widowed in 1985, she moved to Leisure World. She volunteered many years with Meals on Wheels and served on their Board of Directors. She had a love of travel and visited many destinations including China and Hungary.
An Accomplished quilter, all of her family posses cherished "Grandma Quilts". She loved playing table games including Rumicube and cards from which she became a talented bridge player. But her most valued activity was engaging with her family and helping all in any way possible.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Barbara Stone (husband Kevin), Joanne Vatz (husband Richard), and Mary Beth Oklesson (husband Daniel). She will be missed by her cherished grandchildren, Shaina Kuhn, Patrick Stone, Kathleen J. Oklesson-Wright, Matthew Stone, Lauren M. Oklesson, Stephen D. Oklesson, and David Vatz, as well as her seven great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Stephen, her brother, Edward Coyne, and sister, Nancy Shelpman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00am on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at St. Mark Chapel, 30 Melvin Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228. A Graveside Service will take place on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 2:00pm at Saint Anne Cemetery, St Anne Street, Castle Shannon, PA 15234.
