Karen Muller Casanova, 75, of Marriottsville, Maryland, passed peacefully on June 15th, 2025. Cherished daughter of the late Betty A. Gallagher, Calvin F. Muller, and loving stepdaughter of the late James P. Gallagher, she is survived by her beloved husband, Barry W. Casanova, her brother Michael C. Muller (Mary), nieces and nephews Sarah, Christopher, Rachel and Rebecca Muller, Christopher Stanger (Sidney), Stephanie Curry (Will), brother-in-law Craig Stanger, and many loving extended family and good friends.
Growing up in Baltimore and educated at the Institute of Notre Dame and College of Notre Dame of Maryland University, she followed her mother into teaching and touched the lives of thousands of Baltimore City middle and high school students in thirty-six years of dedicated English and drama public school teaching. In retirement she continued teaching, including aqua arthritis classes and knitting at Ellicott City’s YMCA and senior center. An avid reader, she enjoyed crafts, traveling, and music. She participated in two choral groups, Showtime Singers and the Cherelles, which support autism and special education at Ellicott City’s Linwood Center. A dedicated sensitive leader, enthusiastic, witty, a giving friend, and always the educator, Karen will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by those whose lives she touched.
