Judith Ganz

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Judith Ann Ganz, age 81, of Ellicott City, Maryland, on September 19, 2025.

Judy was the beloved wife of Bill Ganz, loving mother to Marc (Lynne) and Michael Heckrotte, step-mother to Bridget (DJ) Ashby, and Billy Ganz. A devoted grandmother to Neil, Kiran, Jackson, Brooklyn, Jamison, and Brittany - each of whom brought her immense pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Julia Wille, and her dear sister, Debbie Cardwell, with whom she shared a deep bond. Judy also leaves behind her loving brother-in-law Mark, cherished niece Amy (Dave) Soule, and nephew Adam (Nina) Cardwell, who held a special place in her heart.

Judy was a passionate gardener. And like her sister, Debbie, she had a magical touch with flowers - her gardens blooming with life and color in every season, a reflection of the care and beauty she brought into the world.

She was a proud member of the Dewey Lowman Post 109 Auxiliary, where she found friendship, laughter, and a sense of community. Judy also found joy in simple pleasures - dining out, gathering with family and friends, and especially, spending peaceful days in Ocean City along with Bill, reading for hours under the shade of her umbrella with the sound of the waves nearby.

Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and warm smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family kindly asks that any memorial contributions be made in Judy’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, or Special Olympics Maryland.
