John David Morsberger Sr.

John David Morsberger Sr. went home to be with the Lord on August 3rd, 2026, at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Barbara Ann Morsberger (nee Ward), with whom he had 67 years of marriage, as well as his devoted children, John David Jr. and wife Doreen, Laura Ann, and Steven Andrew. He was the beloved Pop to ten grandchildren, Erin, Daniel, Lindsay, Ryan, Kelsey, Michael, Abigail, Katherine, Lyonia, and Molly, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. 

A lifelong resident of Catonsville, MD, Dave graduated from Catonsville High School in 1956. Shortly after, he became a hardworking employee of the C&P telephone company, where he spent his entire 35-year career. He retired at the age of 55 and then enjoyed 35 years of retirement. At 22, he enlisted in the Air National Guard and served from 1959-1965. 

Dave was a faithful member of the congregation at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Catonsville, where he was married in 1959. He loved singing in the church choir, and leading Sunday school alongside his wife. He was passionate about studying the Bible, enjoyed a well-kept yard, an evening coffee, and watching British detective shows with his wife. Whether it was Saturday lunches from Taneytown Deli, working on the cars, camping at Shad Landing, or taking trips to the Adirondacks, his greatest joy was in spending time with his family. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Howard (Hatz) and Sarah (Lottie), all seven of his older brothers, Howard, Warren, William (Bill), Tyson, Richard (Dick), James (Jim), & Donald, and his granddaughter, Erin. 

"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."

A service will be held at Bishop Cummins church at 2001 Frederick Rd., Catonsville, MD, 21228 on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 11am. 

Family visitation will take place prior to the service, starting at 10am. The service will be followed by a luncheon in the gymnasium.
