Janet Lynn Menke was born in New London, Connecticut on March 7, 1967 to parents John and Susan Doll. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 3, 2026, at the age of 58. She was preceded in death by her father, John Doll.
Janet is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, Gregory Menke and loving children, Joy Menke and Andrew Newman; her cherished mother, Susan Marie Schmidt; stepfather, George Schmidt; and dear siblings, Katherine Morris and Steven Doll and their spouses, Dwight Morris and Kym Doll. The loss of Janet will be felt by many other caring family and friends, including her adoring cats, Cheddar, Chloe, and Moxie.
Janet was a vibrant soul known for her love of life and her numerous passions. Janet's bright personality shone through in every aspect of her life—she delighted in gardening, creating colorful knitwear, and exploring her artistry with fused glass. She was also a remarkable cook with favorites such as gravlax and coconut macaroons. She is known for bringing people together around her table, and as a passionate traveler who filled her life with rich experiences and vibrant memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Family and friends may gather on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm for a visitation at the Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Rd., Catonsville, MD 21228 with a Celebration of Life taking place at 11:00 am and burial to follow at the Serenity Ridge Natural Cemetery, 2406 Ridge Rd., Windsor Mill, MD 21244.
As we gather to celebrate Janet's life, we encourage everyone to wear bright colors in honor of her spirit.
