George Panagakos, 100, of Little River, South Carolina, passed away in his daughter’s home on May 21, 2025. Born to Peter and Ethel Panagakos (nee Moran) in Baltimore, Maryland, George was the youngest of his three siblings, Helen Economas and Nick and Pete Panagakos. He was drafted into the United States Army just before the end of World War II. On June 15, 1952, George and his loving wife Christina (nee Copoulos) were married, and would soon become parents to four daughters: Patti, Donna, Lori, and Stacey. George worked at International Harvester until his retirement in 1984. He and Chris moved in November 2020 to a rancher on 2 acres in Little River, South Carolina, next door to his daughter Lori. He loved working outside when he was able. He made lots of friends, who came around often and kept him company. In 2023, George was honored with the Quilt of Valor, which he hung on the wall proudly. He was strong, independent, and proud, as he looked forward to his 100th birthday on May 6, 2025. He spent his last few days pain-free, comfortable, stress-free, and peaceful under Hospice Comfort Care at Lori’s house.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Christina; his parents, Peter and Ethel; his siblings, Helen, Nick, and Pete; and his daughter Patti Jaeger (Brian). He is survived by his devoted daughters, Donna Fenner (Mark), Lori Panagakos-Dishon (Lonnie), and Stacey Hall; his cherished grandchildren, Erin, Brandi, George, BJ, Tyler, Stephanie, and Eric; as well as many great-grandchildren.
