Gary William Armentrout

After 79 years of a life well lived, Gary Armentrout left this world but not our hearts on May 19, 2026. He is survived by Rosemarie, his beloved wife of 51 years; daughter, Elizabeth Armentrout; his son; Eric Armentrout; and his brother, Eddie “Sonny” Armentrout.

Gary had a gift for turning family into lifelong friends. To him, his in-laws were never simply relatives-they were truly sisters, brothers, and cherished friends. He will be deeply missed by Bonnie Armentrout, Bernie Wengert, Debbie and Charlie Thompson, and Inez Niven. He was preceded in death by his sister Nancy and her husband, Jim Weller, Connie and Richard Thompson, and Jim Niven.

Gary was also dearly loved by a host of nieces and nephews through blood, marriage and friendship. ‘Uncle Gary’ was a title he cherished.

Just as he turned family into friends, he turned friends into family. He will be greatly missed by many close friends.

Gary served his country honorably as a Marine. He was a veteran of Vietnam. He also was proud to serve as a Postal Clerk for the U. S. Postal Service from 1969 until his retirement in 2010.

In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in his honor, St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital and the Jack D. McLaughlin Scholarship Fund were both dear to his heart.

Friends and family may gather at the Candle Light Funeral Home, Friday, May 29, 2026, from 10:00am-12:00pm and 2:00pm-3:00pm, a memorial service will be held from 3:00pm-4:00pm.
