Frieda Mae Harryman, 85-years-old, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, after a two-year struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Frieda was born Frieda Mae Meyers on February 13, 1939, in North Carolina, and then her family shortly thereafter moved to Baltimore. She grew up in a blended family with her sister Sandy and half-brother Bill. Frieda grew up in a cozy modest home behind what we fondly remember as the Harundale Mall and went on to graduate from Glen Burnie High School. While in high school Frieda met Thomas Harryman, and their connection was instant and undeniable. They were married at the beautiful Immaculate Conception Church in Towson, Maryland. It was a day filled with joy, love, and the promise of a lifetime together. And that promise was fulfilled because they celebrated 51-and-a-half years of marriage before Tom passed away. The two of them created a beautiful life together with nine beautiful children and an amazing family and legacy of love.

In the early years of raising the children Frieda was a stay-at-home mom until the youngest sister, Peggy, was a toddler. Times were tough and Frieda decided to work to help make ends meet. She started working part-time as a crossing guard in Linthicum, and then ventured into various sales positions where she consistently performed as a top salesperson, always with a smile and a story to share. When Tom retired, Frieda and Tom moved to Ocean Pines, and Frieda pursued another career opportunity as a senior. She embraced a new role working at the local hospital’s check-in front desk, where she thrived, assisting the community with warmth and kindness. She absolutely loved this job and cherished the meaningful relationships she built while working.
Frieda had a deep and abiding faith that strengthened in later life. She believed in Catholicism and found immense comfort in her relationship with the Blessed Mother. As her health declined, her faith remained a cornerstone of her life. She often asked those around her to join her in prayer, finding comfort in shared moments of spirituality.
Our family is beyond thankful and humbled to honor our “Mom” who gave us life. We are blessed beyond measure to have our beautiful children and grandchildren and families, a legacy that comes from Mom.
We will miss Mom dearly, but her spirit will live on in our hearts.
