Francis W. Murray

Francis W. Murray, of Columbia, MD, passed away on January 23, 2023. He was 71.

Francis was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on December 15, 1951, to Jack Murray and Alma Slattery (nee Borrack). He was the devoted husband of Susan A. Murray (nee Feaster) and devoted father to Erika Murray. Cherished brother to the late Robert Murray (Nancy) & the late John Murray (Judy). Loving nephew to the late Aunt Ann Bernard & cherished cousin to Ellen Kruza (Ken). Survived by loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.

Frank retired from his career at the John’s Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in April 2022 after 40 years. He accomplished work in the Space Department and went on to be a Senior Cyber Security Analyst for the Defense Department. He greatly enjoyed his work and his many coworkers that were like family.

Frank had a passion for photography, music, gardening, traveling, and his Lotus Europa car. Some of his favorite stories to tell were about all the concerts he attended, especially Woodstock. He loved to bring along his telescopes to every vacation in Bar Harbor, Maine to observe the stars. He spent many of his final months watching his favorite Sci Fi movies.

Family & Friends may gather at Candle Light Funeral Home Monday, January 30th, 2023 from 4:00pm-7:00pm with a service beginning at 7:00pm. A Graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 31 ^st , 2023 at 11:00 am at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation to support continued research on the disease Frank battled.
