Earl Norman Deickman, Jr., 75, of Catonsville, MD, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025. Earl was born on March 19, 1950, to Earl Norman Deickman, Sr. and Lillian Elizabeth (nee Dicus) Deickman. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Karen Deickman; beloved children, Katie Manger, Kristie Snedeker (spouse Jerod), and Greg Deickman (spouse Kaitlin); cherished grandchildren, Madison, Haley, Jesse, Cooper, Noah, Jocelyn, and Lucy; and loving siblings, Charles, Barbara, Irene, Terri, Robert, and Frank.
A Maryland native, Earl, devoted 39 years of service as a teacher with Baltimore County Public Schools, where he made a lasting impact on generations of students. He believed deeply in education, mentorship, and giving young people the tools to succeed.
An Eagle Scout and dedicated troop leader, he lived by the values of service, leadership, and integrity. Those values carried into his many years of playing and coaching high school sports. He also had a lifelong passion for wrestling, spending countless years supporting and attending county tournaments.
Beyond his professional and volunteer commitments, he was an avid photographer and a respected leader in the Carroll County Camera Club. Always eager to share his ever-growing knowledge, he generously mentored others and found joy in helping fellow photographers grow in their craft.
He loved to travel and explore nature, especially on trips out West and beyond, where he appreciated the beauty of new landscapes.
Above all, he valued time with his family and was deeply proud of his children and grandchildren, whom he supported wholeheartedly.
He will be deeply missed by his spouse, children, grandchildren, and other loved ones, as well as by the many students, athletes, scouts, and friends whose lives he touched.
Friends and family may gather at Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228, on Saturday, January 3, 2026 for a Memorial Gathering from 1:00pm – 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Earl’s memory to Catonsville High School Booster Club.
