On August 10th, 2025, Dorothy Elizabeth "Lisa" Vicari (nee Kolb); beloved wife of the late Michael J. Vicari Jr., devoted mother of Ellen E. Vicari-Adams and her husband Danny, Jeannette Alford and her husband Curt, and Mary Ann Vicari and her husband Victor Villagran; dear daughter of the late Haven and Mary Kolb; cherished grandmother of Andromeda and Lyra Adams, and Annabel Alford; caring sister of Charles Kolb, Mary Kolb Zafiris, and Jessie Kolb. Also survived by many other loving family members and friends.
Lisa enjoyed a wide variety of interests and pursuits. A daughter of two teachers, she highly valued both formal and self-guided education. She taught elementary school before starting her family. She had a lifelong love of geography and maps, literature, folklore, and learning about different cultures. Keeping apprised of world news and current events was highly important to her.
Lisa loved being in nature and creating her own garden both at home and at a community plot. She always looked at the sky for interesting clouds in the day and the phase of the moon at night. She gravitated to animals, especially cats. She also loved traveling, and having close family members living in Sweden, Norway, Greece, and South Korea gave her the chance to not only have global adventures, but also a wealth of reminiscences.
Everyone knew Lisa for her ability to create a warm and welcoming environment in her home. Her door was open to her kids' teenage gatherings, holiday celebrations, and many family events.
She adored children, and there were always toys and books in her home for entertaining little visitors. News and pictures from her much-loved extended family members were a lifeline for her in her final months.
Lisa was an active member of her community. Her interest in the stories of people and places inspired her to volunteer at the local history room at the Catonsville Library. She eventually led the group of dedicated volunteers who worked to archive photos and preserve records to keep Catonsville history alive. She was especially interested in sharing the diverse voices of all of Catonsville's residents. Reading was her main form of entertainment and the library was an essential part of her life.
