Daniel Patrick Moriarty

May 21, 1958 — September 26, 2025

Daniel Patrick Moriarty died suddenly of natural causes on Friday, September 26, 2025, at his home in Catonsville. Dan was born on May 21, 1958, in Providence, Rhode Island, to John J. Moriarty, Jr., and Eileen Margaret Moriarty. He is survived by a sister, Kathleen (Gary) Stearman, nieces Natalie and May Stearman, and nephews Patrick and Michael Stearman, as well as by aunts Mary Reilly, R.S.M., Constance Reilly, Frances O’Malley, and Margaret (Nick) Capezza.

Dan graduated from the University of North Carolina with a Ph.D. in history and taught at several universities, including Indiana State University and Salisbury University. Later, he worked for the State of Maryland in its Department of Assessments and Taxation.

Dan enjoyed traveling the back roads of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, coastal North Carolina, and the Great Lakes region, capturing their natural beauty and culture with his trusty Nikon FM. He loved a good cup of coffee, the Baltimore Orioles, North Carolina BBQ, and all of the great ethnic food available in the Baltimore area---especially Indian food! He will be deeply missed.
