Constance "Connie" Elaine Hargrove, 86, the beloved matriarch of the Hargrove clan, passed away on April 13, 2025, at home after over ten years of carrying the cross of several serious medical conditions. She was born on January 20, 1939, in Baltimore, MD. She is preceded in death by her parents; Beatrice Marie Chase and Daniel Smith, her son Angelo Antonio Hargrove and her sister Marie “Sissy” Faison.

Connie is survived and missed by her children Wallace Jr., Garnette, and Ronald “Ronnie”; and remembered by her four grandchildren Erica, Erin, Corsica, and Kiristen; and great-grandchild Amilliana. Siblings and their family Shelly, Genevieve, and Jennifer, Geraldine, Tisha, Elisha, Stacey, Tiffany, Tonya, Tatiana and Ivory. And her best friend Mary.

While raising her family in Baltimore, MD, Connie worked as a wiring manufacturer at Western Electric on Broening Highway (now a Historic District) making copper cable, cords and wire products for phone transmission. Connie later retired as a nutrition worker for the Baltimore City School system in her mid-eighties where the staff members and children became her second family.

Connie had an unquenchable thirst for adventure. She was often spending her spare time venturing around Baltimore City (making friends along the way) visiting Lexington Market for good eats, shopping at the malls for gifts, attending events hosted by friends and coworkers or dinning out. And boy-oh-boy did she love spending the evenings on the phone talking to family and friends until the late evenings.

She was a big fan of game shows and The Voice. And she loved to purchase her daily crossword puzzle scratch off tickets for personal entertainment.

Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas where she enjoyed spending time with family.

Connie's greatest joy and achievement was her family and many friends and the children at the Baltimore City schools where she worked whom she always gifted presents every holiday of the year.

For those desiring, the family has requested that donations be made to The Heart Foundation.

Family and friends may gather for a private family service on April 23, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Candle Light Funeral Home in Catonsville, MD, with interment following at Saint John’s Cemetery in Ellicott City, MD.

Dear Mom,

These words are spoken from my heart after the long journey we traveled together during your time of sickness. My heart is heavy.

You were a warrior with a heart of gold and a mind of little patience. Many battles were won and lost during this (our) journey, but you remained a trooper through it all and your trust in me to guide you made our mother and daughter bond the strongest it had ever been. I love you.

During your process for recovery, you shared your laughter, joy, tears, frustration and determination as did I which gave us both the strength and courage needed to get through this journey for a healthier life. We grew together.

Your whispered words of thanks and gratitude were not needed as it was my honor to have you as my mom. You were always selfless in putting aside your own interests and desires for the sake of the greater good, showing kindness, generosity, compassion, and love to others. I could only give you the same practiced compassion during your time of need for your well-being and my own well-being.

Love you forever and always Mom.

Heavenly Father, I know it will take time to adjust to life without my beloved parent. During this challenging period, I seek the ability to remain resilient and find optimism even in times of hardship. Help me to carry on with courage and grace.

Garnette Elaine Hargrove

Grandma,

“You believed, and I started to read”.

Missing my sister,

My sister got her wings. Left before anyone knew it.

I loved her with all my heart, and she loved me unconditionally. If I needed her, she would be there for me. So many times, on the phone we laughed together. Missing her will be an understatement.

Our mighty father came to her and said you two will laugh when it’s her time. My loving sister will be missed dearly.

I pray when my time comes, she and my mighty father will meet me at “the gates of heaven” to welcome me home.

Love you sister, Genevieve
