Claudia Halko was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the cherished only child of Arthur A. Felicebus (“Otts”) and Margaret C. Felicebus. Proud of her Italian heritage, she was the granddaughter of Italian immigrants on both sides and belonged to a large, close-knit family. She was raised in East Baltimore and attended The Shrine of The Little Flower Elementary School, followed by The Catholic High School of Baltimore, where she graduated with honors.
Claudia dedicated her career to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she faithfully served for 46 years. Her journey began in the Comptroller’s Office, and she later spent over two decades working in Psychiatry. After the events of 9/11, she took on additional responsibilities in emergency management. Eventually, emergency management became its own department, and Claudia concluded her career as a Project Coordinator. Throughout her tenure, she was the proud recipient of the Baker King Award three times, an honor bestowed upon employees who exemplify outstanding performance and serve as positive role models.
A loving mother and grandmother, Claudia took immense pride in her daughter Veronica and her granddaughter Cristina, who was her greatest joy. She was a devoted supporter at every Special Olympics event, cheering for Cristina and her friends. She never missed Cristina’s many drama performances and was always present at cheer trips, end-of-season parties, and gatherings with Cristina’s friends and their families.
A woman of vibrant spirit, Claudia loved to dance from childhood through adulthood. She could light up the dance floor alone or with a partner, and if she had followed one dream, it would have been to pursue a dance career in New York. Many also knew her as an avid lover of old movies and music, with immense knowledge about history, religion, and geography.
Claudia is survived by her daughter Veronica Meza, her granddaughter Cristina Meza, her godchildren Toni Shipe and Ralph Comegna, and numerous cousins whom she loved dearly.
Her funeral service will be held at Church of the Resurrection, 3175 Paulskirk Drive, Ellicott City, MD 21042, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel. A reception will follow, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, Claudia kindly requested that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to her heart.
