Barbara “Bo” Sortore was born in Catonsville, Maryland on December 8, 1956. She passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025 at the age of 68 after battling cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Sortore and Jane Weisengoff Sortore. She is the cherished sister of Jean Dwyer (Joseph), Thomas Sortore, and Mary Ann Eikenberg (William); and devoted aunt to Julie Corradetti, Jennifer McDonnell, the late William D. Zei; Jenny Eikenberg (Phil Tylicki), and Kevin Eikenberg (Chloe Hriso); as well as many great-nieces and nephews. Her loss will be felt by many other caring friends and family.
Barbara graduated from Archbishop Keough High School in 1974; attended the Community College of Baltimore County - Catonsville; and graduated from the Barbizon School after studying modeling and fashion merchandising. She spent her professional life as a sales consultant for various businesses over the years selling wedding dresses, home security systems, employment publications, and cruises.
Barbara will be remembered as an always present supporter in her family's lives. This is apparent in the sheer number of memories people have of her. Whether it was long bike rides on the Sparks NCR trail with Julie, driving along and encouraging Jennifer as she was roller skating in the neighborhood, cheering Billy on at his baseball games, attending Jenny’s dance recitals, seeing movies with and attending Kevin’s percussion concerts, or bringing her humor and laughter for a Sunday night dinner, her dedication to family was a pillar of her life. The memories and impact of that dedication will be cherished forever by those she loved.
As an avid Orioles and Ravens fan she was always available to give her opinion on the latest game and would enjoy trips to Camden Yards and M&T Stadium to cheer them on in person. We know that she’ll be rooting for them in heaven, and if they finally make it to the World Series or Super Bowl, she most certainly will have had something to do with it.
Barbara will be missed deeply by all who love her, but the warmth of the many memories she shared with us will keep her memory alive for generations to come.
