Barbara E. Hinton

Born May 6, 1937, Barbara E. Hinton, née Winter, was the daughter of Norman and Genevieve Winter. Following the death of her father just three months before her eighth birthday, Barbara and her sister, Norma, went to live at Egenton Home in Roland Park, where Barbara remained until graduating from Eastern High School in 1955.

Barbara dedicated more than 20 years of her career to Catonsville Middle School, where she worked as an office secretary. She was also deeply involved with Al-Anon, an organization that held special meaning in her life.

After the death of her husband, Clarence, Barbara moved to Eldersburg, Maryland, where she made her home with her son, Jeff, and his wife, Julie.

Barbara was an avid reader and loved the beach. She was also a crossword puzzle whiz. She could often be found working on a crossword puzzle and, when she came across a clue that stumped her, she wasn't afraid to call upon her grandchildren for a little assistance.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Joseph; her son, Jeff Hinton (Julie); her stepson, Paul Hinton; eight grandchildren, Brianna, Zach (Lisa), Kevin, Eli (Mary), Shannen, Chet (Morgan), Kyle, and Grant; and nine great-grandchildren, Luke, Jason, Tristan, Adam, Huck, Jed, Max, Hope, and Beckham.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hinton; her stepdaughter, Louise Hinton; her son-in-law, Gerard Joseph; and her granddaughter, Tessa.

Barbara will be remembered for the love she shared with her family and friends, the friendships she treasured, her love of reading and the beach, and her sharp mind when tackling a challenging crossword clue. She created many memories and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
