Ashwani Marjorie Wilhelm was born in Mangalore, Karnataka, South India. She soon took the nickname, Ashi, which later became “Asha,” the name she grew to love and embrace.  A vivacious girl, she grew up mostly in New Delhi, India where she met her husband, L.N. “Chuck” Chakravarthy, and later moved to the United States.  Her entire working career involved helping others.  She touched the lives of so many in a positive way, whether through her smile, her selflessness or her food.  She was the type of person who found it very difficult to say no to anyone, but especially to her children, and even moreso with her grandchildren, who were so close to their Nanni.  Life brought her happiness in so many ways.  And, while her goal each day was to make others happy, she found that same happiness through her own children and their families.  She couldn’t live without her card games each week and kitty parties with her girlfriends.  During the last few years, after she retired, Asha lived her dream of traveling the world, visiting places like Peru, Hawaii, Italy, China, Alaska, and many, many more.

Asha was God-fearing and very sacrificial and strived to keep the families together in love and harmony.  She showed her love and brought the family together through food and laughter.  She always lit up any gathering with her big smile and outgoing personality, a magnanimous person loved and respected by all.  She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Asha was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and a doting grandmother.  She is survived by her husband, Chuck, her children, Shobita DuBois and Rajiv Chakravarthy, son-in-law, Dominic DuBois, daughter-in-law, Piya Chakravarthy, grandchildren, Nicholas DuBois, Lucas DuBois and Nya DuBois, her mother, Celestine Wilhelm, sister, Kumudini Russell, and brother, Pradeep Wilhelm, in addition to many, many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Though this world took her too early from all of those who loved her, she lived her life to the fullest, enjoyed every single moment, cherished and loved her family, and realized many of her dreams.  We should all be so lucky to do the same.
