Arthur C. Yost Jr. of Gainesville, VA, born on January 9, 1935 in Baltimore, MD, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on March 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Arthur was the devoted husband of Eleanor (Kempter) Yost; beloved father of Catherine Yost Stultz and son-in-law Michael Connors; and loving grandfather of Zachary Stultz, Tristan Connors and the late Aurora Connors. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur C. Yost, Sr. and Louise (Milligan) Yost.

Arthur, also known as Auts to his family and friends, was a strong yet incredibly loving man, with a heart of gold, who was well liked and admired by those who knew him.  He was a dedicated and devoted husband and father, who worked hard to provide a wonderful life for his family.

He grew up in Baltimore, MD where he attended Baltimore Polytech and graduated from Catonsville High School in 1953.  He worked and raised his family in Catonsville, MD where he was a carrier for the Baltimore Sun newspaper and owner of Chadwick Hobbies until retiring in 1993.

Arthur loved the Chesapeake Bay; his family had a summer home on the bay where he spent his childhood boating and swimming.  As an adult he also enjoyed countless hours, with his wife Eleanor and daughter Cathy, boating on the Bay. After retiring Arthur and his wife moved to Cape St. Claire on the Magothy river, where he and his family continued to enjoy the Bay for many years. He and his wife eventually left the Bay and purchased a home on Lake Manassas in Gainesville, VA so they could be close to their daughter and her family.  Even though he no longer lived on the Bay it was always in his heart.

Arthur had many interests throughout his life and was an avid hobbyist, he built model cars and boats of all types, and built and flew radio control planes for many years, but his most enduring passion was collecting trains and building train gardens. His boyhood love of the Christmas train gardens that he and his father built, grew into a love of trains that never ended. He built numerous train gardens throughout the years, taking over various rooms in his house, and in recent years a large portion of his basement became a permanent home for his trains.

Visitation with the family will be held at the Candle Light Funeral Home in Catonsville, MD on March 25th, 2018 at 11am with a memorial service beginning at 2pm.  Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to join a dinner and reception, details to be provided at the Funeral Home.
