Listen to Obituary

Finn, the son of Norwegian immigrants Sverre and Thordis Ramsland grew up on Berkshire Road in the Hamilton area of Baltimore with his siblings Thor, Lynn and Peer. His relationship with the love of his life Linda began with walking her home from choir practice at Grace Lutheran Church when they were young teenagers.

They were married in 1963 and lived in the Hamilton area where they welcomed their children Finn, Lisa, Tommy and Thor, and in 1976 moved to their 8-acre property in Whitehall that was the perfect backdrop for treasured memories with family and friends for the next 50 years of their lives.

Finn worked in the insurance restoration side of the construction industry, first as an estimator at Knott Construction and then as an executive at Hayes Construction where he earned a legendary reputation with fellow employees, partners and competitors for his fairness, honesty, excellence and loyalty.

Finn had an understated and deeply loving presence with his grandchildren Finn, Kylie, Kristen, Nate, Kendall, Bryce, Tibbs, Lane, Brynne, Abigail, Isabelle, Rocky, Rae, Sam, Seth, Steven, Beck and Daisy. Pop Pop leaves with them an enduring example of the fruits of the spirit - Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control. His loving presence extended to his great-grandchildren Paige, Finn, Gracie, Brock, Titus, Charlie, Joy, Rhett, Henry, Lucy, Bodhi, Wynnie, Howie, and Rylin. Some of his greatest joys in life were spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren on visits, holidays, and vacations, and then in the later years watching their hilarious videos and looking at their pictures daily.

Finn is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Linda; his children Finn, Lisa, Tommy and Thor; his sister Lynn; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Sverre and Thordis, and his brothers Thor and Peer.

In the words of Finn's dear friend and work colleague, Finn was a soft spoken, giant of a man and a true disciple of our Lord. May our Lord welcome him into his eternal rest until we meet again.

We miss him dearly.
